Apple’s New iPad Pro (2024) Has an OLED Display — And It Might Finally Justify the ‘Pro’ in Its Name

Alright folks, it’s happening — Apple just officially announced the new iPad Pro for 2024, and yes: it finally has an OLED display. Took them long enough.

The new panel, dubbed “Ultra Retina XDR” (because why name things simply?), is said to be brighter, sharper, and contrastier than anything we’ve seen on an iPad. Think iPhone 14 Pro levels of pop, but on a nearly 13-inch screen.

But that’s not all.

M3 Chip Inside

The new iPad Pro also gets Apple’s M3 chip, making it — again — the most powerful tablet in the universe. For now. Until the next one drops. But jokes aside, this should be a big upgrade for creatives, designers, and Final Cut nerds. Expect faster render times, smoother multitasking, and maybe — just maybe — the feeling that you didn’t overpay.

Thinner Than Ever

Apple’s also made this iPad ridiculously thin. Like, scary thin. According to the specs, it’s under 6mm. I haven’t held one yet, but I’m already worried I’ll snap it in half trying to take it out of my backpack.

Accessories: Keyboard, Pencil, Bank Account

A new Magic Keyboard is coming too, with a redesigned aluminum base that’s supposed to feel more like a MacBook. And yes, there’s a new Apple Pencil Pro. It has haptics. It can sense rotation. It costs as much as a decent steak dinner.

Price: Ouch

Starting at $1,199 for the 11-inch and $1,499 for the 13-inch model. That’s without accessories. Add a keyboard and a pencil, and you’re easily north of $2,000. For a tablet. Just sayin’.

Bottom line?
If you’re a hardcore creative, or you just really like watching Netflix in OLED glory — this is the best iPad Apple’s ever made. If you’re a casual user who just wants to browse the web and read emails… probably stick with the Air.
